We Did It!
We did it! Yesterday at 3:50 PM we began the newest journey in life. We got married.
I was so nervous all day thinking we have to be at the courthouse before they close today, our previous dates to get married fell through but we finally did it.
We arrived at the courthouse in Manti and went to the County Clerks office. I was excited but nervous, not sure how Brett was feeling. We registered and got all the paperwork and paid for our licence. Then we had to wait.
The county clerk was out for lunch for another half hour so we couldn't get married right away. So we waited for her to get back while two witnesses were found to verify the marriage.
Sandy Neill, the county clerk finally arrived and we went downstairs to a training room to be married. The ceremony was brief but the part I loved I will remember always....
"A friendship blooms into love and it last forever, cherish each other" when it came to the 'I Do's' I remember exactly how Brett and I answered "Yes, I do!"
Honestly it was nerve racking not knowing where to put my hands at first. Gazing into Brett's eyes seeing the Love there. It was amazing.
You might be asking yourself what about family members and friends? We decided to pull a Sanpete Style Elopement and just go to the courthouse because we'd had planning issues previously. Because we just wanted the two witnesses we decided to have the Court provide them so there were no hard feelings later of who actually got to attend.
My thanks go out to Aalisha Johnson and Nida Pyper for standing as witnesses to this occassion. They were neutral witnesses and even though our family and friends were left out it doesn't mean they weren't loved.
We plan on having a small BBQ down the road as a celebration but at this point in our lives our finances made it next to impossible to do much more than the courthouse wedding.
So if you are a family member or friend just keep in mind we love you all and it is more that we want to start our new beginning with stable finances then spend the money on a big celebration at the moment.
So that is our story. Oh, guess I left out one small part. Since we 'eloped' we didn't really tell anyone that we were married until just after and at this moment my (Jamie) part of the family is still in the dark about the wedding because I am kinda scared to tell them but they will be told today. (If no way else we posted on Facebook that we are now married) but we will reveal today to my family in person. I just have to get the nerve up!
Love you all and may you follow our journey always.
Note: This blog has been set up more for my personal record than anything but I hope that any of you out there following this blog know that I am glad that you do so!
